A study of correlation between Self-Actualization and Health Status of Volunteer Telephone Worker in Life Line, using the Self-Actualization Inventory and the Cornell Medical Index


Abstract
This study was undertaken to determine the correlation between Self-Actualization and Health Status of Volunter Telephone Worker in Life Line in Seoul. This study involved 75 Volunteer Telephone Workers aging from 20¢¥s to 60¢¥s and was carried out between May and August 30, 1980.
The instrument used was the Self-Actualization Inventory and the Cornell Medical Index.
The results were as follows;
1. In the investigative sample, the response was high in TC, ID, SAV, SP, SR, SA, within the Self-Actualization Scales.
2. The response of the Volunteer Telephone Workers was low in both medical and psychiatric complaints (21.91) in the Cornell Medical Index.
3. There was a difference in the Volunteer respones by age between the Self-Actualization and the Cornell Medical Index.
In female, complaints were high in the H and O, and Depression(D) was high in Male.
In the medical complaints, there were high complaints shown in the female than male.
4. In the Self-Actualization Inventory and the Cornell Medical Index, there were correlations between SP and D. G. I. L. N. R, Q, and there was a significant difference in the H and P by the Self-Actualization Inventory.
5. The Self-Actualization factors affecting CMI is 3% by SP and 17.7% by all scales. It was possibly explain 27.8% mental categories.
